Denmark overtakes Austria and becomes second-placed in Qatar 2022

Hjulmand’s men beat Austria by a goal to nil, to seal an immaculate World Cup qualification

Eight wins in eight games with 27 goals for and none against. Imposing letter of introduction from Denmark that has become the second European team qualified for Qatar 2022, after Germany. The Danes sealed their qualification after beating Austria 1-0 at the Parken. The result leaves David Alaba’s team with no chance of qualifying for the World Cup.

Hjulmand’s men have used pragmatism to beat a tough Austria that made things difficult for them for much of the game. A lone Maehle goal off a Delaney pass in the 53rd minute helped the home team take all 3 points.

The Danish team will make its sixth World Cup appearance in Qatar, the second in a row after being in Russia 2018. The ‘Red Dynamite’ has become one of the sensations on the international scene in recent months. In the last European Championship, after overcoming Eriksen’s blow, they managed to reach the semifinals where they lost to the host England and on this way to Qatar they have been the only team with full victories and that they have not conceded a goal.
